FAQs
Fair questions, straight answers
What is Dal Paneer?+
The internet's home for two dishes. Reference guides (the Dal Index, Paneer School), tested recipes, and a finder for spots near you that serve great dal and paneer. Later: ordering fixed dal + paneer combos from partner restaurants.
Are the restaurants on Near You real?+
Not yet — and we say so right on the page. The finder currently shows clearly-labeled sample data while we seed the real map, one city at a time. No listing goes live as fact until it's verified.
When do ratings launch?+
Ratings are the next major feature: you'll rate every recipe you cook and every dish you eat out, and each rating becomes a post on the community feed. No public date yet — it ships when it's good.
I run a restaurant. How do I get listed or sell combos?+
We're picking pilot kitchens now, one city at a time. Listing is free and there's zero commission during the pilot. See Sell With Us for how it works, or email hello@dalpaneer.com with your restaurant's name, city, and your best dal and paneer dishes — we'll tell you where the pilot stands.
Will I be able to order food here?+
That's the plan: fixed dal + paneer + rice + roti combos, cooked and fulfilled by partner restaurants. The version we're most excited about is subscriptions — plan your week once, and the combo shows up when it's supposed to, no daily decisions. You'll always be able to skip or cancel.
Are the recipes free?+
Yes. Recipes, the Dal Index, and Paneer School are free and stay free. The business lives on the ordering side, not behind a recipe paywall.
Why do some photos look borrowed?+
Because they are — openly. Until our own photography lands, some images come from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licenses, credited on the Photo Credits page.
Who's behind this?+
A small independent team that previously ran a dal-and-paneer meal business and learned what customers actually want: great versions of these two dishes, without having to think about it daily. Read more on the About page.
